DDO
Well over the past week I took advantage of the DDO 10 day free trial. I still have 2 day left on the trial and I am still deciding if I want to buy the game or not. Now the game is only $15 but the question is “is there enough there for the $15 a month fee”. I guess I will keep thinking it over tomorrow and then decide Wednesday.
Tomorrow I plan on put my lfg tag and see what the group action looks like. The dungeons are really nice and the traps are great. I don’t know how many times I jumped when I would suddenly see fire shooting out of the wall. I guess the deciding factor for me will be how looking for a group goes.

You haven’t grouped yet? GAH! D&D (and thus, DDO) are all about the grouping! Solo difficulty can be ok to see how a new skill or spell works without embarrassing yourself, or to just explore, but being in groups at the harder difficulties is where the game truly shines.
DDO has a pretty mature community as well, and their LFG tool makes it extremely easy to find or start a group. The only “bad” thing is that a lot of players are vets who know the dungeons inside and out and tend to rush through it all to the parts that give the most xp and favor, often skipping the optional goals. If you’re starting a group, I’d suggest putting a note about “no rushing” or something along those lines so the group lets you take in the experience.

As Talyn said, the group interaction and strategy is about 80% of the game! I would suggest that you try it out for a month or two (since it there is no more commitment at that price-point). After you have, check out some of the guilds on your server. Being able to run with a consistent group of people really enhances the play experience. I rarely have near as much fun running quest with a pick-up group as with a guild group.
I’ve been playing since the game started, and while there have been a few slow times, I am still having a great time in the game. You will too.
